GHC Workshop Artists Impression

With Hangar 2 now open and fully operational, we are looking towards the next stage of the GHC journey.

The GHC collection includes 14 airworthy gliders that must be kept in flying condition, our work includes restoration projects, may one day include the construction of replicas and we hope to teach the next generation of glider restorers woodworking techniques.

For this to happen we desperately need a dedicated workshop, as our current shared arrangements cannot support all our existing and future works.

Our plan is to build a 12 by 24 metre workshop, created to the latest industry standards, to allow us to continue our work, but also to provide a safe, secure space for members of the public to see us at work.

Proposed GHC Workshop Floor Plan.

Because the building will be a working area, it must have built in dust extraction, ventilation, insulation and have a heat loss certificate to prove its thermal efficiency.

Technically, this will be the most challenging of all the GHC building projects so far, but when complete, will become a great asset in allowing the GHC to move closer to fulfilling its aim of being the premier national gliding heritage facility in the United Kingdom.

Are you willing to help us build this much needed resource? There are several ways that you can support us in our aims. Please, check out the 'How to Donate' section below to find out how.

4. Via a legacy

The future development of the Gliding Heritage Centre is dependent on grants, donations and gifts. If you would like to help develop the GHC and safeguard its future you may like to consider including a legacy in your will. The GHC is a charity so a gift of this kind is exempt from tax. A legacy can take a number of different forms and you can, if you wish, specify how the money should be spent. The details of the GHC are:
